PROS, the Paediatric Radiation Oncology Society, was established in 2006. It is the only international society of pediatric radiation oncologists. We have over 150 members from over 37 countries throughout the world.
Our mission is to set a worldwide standard of excellence with respect to the use of radiotherapy in the treatment of children and adolescents with cancer.
We hold a Congress every other year and a joint Congress with SIOP on the alternate year. We have a memorandum of understanding with ESTRO. There is a three-day PROS/ESTRO teaching course held every other year. This course provides a thorough educational opportunity for practicing radiation oncologists who are treating children. We have had additional PROS Educational Courses in Cairo, Egypt in and in Barretos, Brazil. There is a collaboration with ASTRO which joint PROS/ASTRO panel at the National Meeting and includes publication of our Congress abstracts in the IJROBP.
We have a major outreach to radiation oncologists in LMIC to promote education and participation. We have deduced membership fees for those members from LMIC.
